This is nothing more than a grant grabbing fairy tale.
A planet they can't find. Stolen from a star they can't find.

One thing that can be deduced from the observation of new stars being made is that they do not form independently. Our Sun almost certainly had brothers and sisters. They all drifted off in different directions. But we also know that our Sun orbits the Milky Way galaxy, and in so doing it also oscillates above, through, and below the galactic disk. In so doing it could and undoubtedly has passed near other stars that are also wandering (oscillating up and down through the disk) as they orbit the galactic center.

I find the theory highly logical. Other of our outer planets were discovered by measuring gravitational perturbations of the orbits of known planets and mathematically deducing the presence of an outer planet. Nothing new here, sans for the capture part of the theory.

Now here is one that will boggle the mind much more. We know from quantum mechanics that the seeming nothingness of empty space is actually teaming with zillions of "virtual particle pairs" of matter and energy which pop into and go out of existence (they annihilate each other) in well less than the the twinkle of an eye. This phenomenon (called quantum foam) must also take place just at the "event horizon" of black holes. And when it does, often one virtual particle of the pair may get sucked into the black hole before it can collide with its virtual twin and be annihilated. And the other particle of the pair, now free, having not been annihilated, may then simply fly off into space as a now real particle, a particle of matter that arose from pure nothingness. Matter from nothing.

Even more astounding we now get money from nothing, and some get it for nothing. The wave of the future caused by perturbations in the election cycle.

Quantum foam, I like the sound of that. :)

There was a movement not all that long ago where one could somehow or another get a distant planet or star named after them. I'm sure there was some $ involved along the line. Since some stars died long before their emitted light ever reached earth I wonder if there was a clause to get another or refund, or perhaps the owner was obligated to expire themselves?

There is a total scam organization called (from memory) the "International Star Registry" that will name a star after you for $$$'s. Astronomers the world over do not recognize anything that this organization does or stands for.
