I want a Deering if that is how easy they are to start. Damned near broke my thumb starting that stupid Fordson Major I had. Had a kick like a mule. Next only to my Vincent Black Shadow that threw me over the handle bars and my leg was sore for a month. From that moment on my GF Jessica started it for me --- now that was a LOT of woman.

Messed up my shoulder for months trying to help one of our club members get his large displacement engined 1912 restarted on an annual antique car tour. With it being a very hot day he had to stay at the spark and throttle controls to coax it to restart after it stalled out on a hill in traffic.

This year, a 1910 was having repeated breakdowns because of crud in the fuel system. Having learned my lesson, I just let the car owner do all the hand crank restarting after each stop to drain the carburetor. About the time he was working up blisters on his hand, I loaned him one of my work gloves. :roll:

There's was a very good reason starter motors were invented !!!!! And it's not just to sell cars to women, as some historians believe. I'll bet those historians have never had to hand crank start a large pre-WWI engine !!! :D
