After nursing what we thought was a well-worn clutch for 2 years, we decided to have a new clutch installed. The guys got the tractor split and were surprised to find a brand new OEM clutch sitting there. Everything was new - it must have been installed right before the tractor was forgotten in that barn. The clutch was horribly misadjusted. Two of the fingers on the pressure plate were way off. Set everything to factory specs and it seems to operate fine.
