Raising Chickens...Info/Advice/Help

Don't worry about mice or rats. Chickens are omnivores and will try to eat anything that doesn't try eat them.

Carl is correct...i have seen a mouse that the chickens killed in the coop and they were eating it...l would have never believed it if I had not seen it.

I didn't post on here about the gray squirrel that got in the chicken coop. The squirrel lived, but he lost a lot of blood and has never returned to my yard.

I clipped the feathers on the left wing of my chickens this afternoon. No one has flown over the fence since.

Around here they have to be kept totally enclosed. A fisher cat gets to them and will kill them all in one night.

I had to do some quick reading on the fisher cat, as I had never heard of them. I'm glad we don't have them in Ohio.

We never had them in CT until the morons at DEEP decided it was an indigenous species and went north, brought some back and reintroduced them here. They reek havoc on pets and small animals. Nasty to look at and scary sounds in the woods like some one torturing children.
