Thanks Matt.

Unfortunately, Marcellus is about as far from me as the nearest breakers in Northern PA. :(

The bulk dealers nearest here (geographic center of the state - about halfway between Utica and Binghamton ) have their own 18 wheelers and go to breakers in the Mahanoy area - which my bulk dealer tells me are the closest and most fuel and time efficient for them.

Other than that, it's Tractor Supply, so far.

Paul

Have you considered the Ohio market? do you have a list of bagged and bulk dealers in Ohio who carry Lehigh anthracite?

Keep checking TSC for LA nut and rice.

As for Pea coal... well, would need to go up against the Amish Blaschak Cartel. ;)

Just wanted to say this is my first year burning Lehigh nut from a bulk delivery and so far im very happy. Lehigh is not sold anywhere near the northwest corner of CT so this year I was able to get a bulk delivery lined up. I have been burning it since Sunday night running the stove slow and low around 250*. What I have learned so far is 3 things. It truly is a low ash coal, I get a lot less in the pan on a 12hr shake. After a 12 hr run its still burning of the blue ladies, witch iv never had any other coal do that before. Finally it needs more air than kimmel coal (all I have to compare to from last year), my dampers are open alot more than normal. It will be interesting to see how it performs when the real cold hits and I need to run the stove at 600* to keep old man winter out of the house on those -degree nights. Time will tell

I have to add a little note here.

The heat is high and the ash acceptable but last year my 23 tons had way to many fines.
Finally it needs more air than kimmel coal (all I have to compare to from last year), my dampers are open a lot more than normal.
Hmm, sizing??

My AK180 will only run on 22 MAX before the bed is too thick and the fire starts to choke even with the draft door wide open on the combustion fans and no I did not run heavy equipment over it. From truck to homer bucket and that is all. In order for the fire to run flat out I have added 5 tons of buck for the coldest months (thx rob). It was only that one batch and I could not turn down $120 a ton for buck. For now I am inventoring three types of coal (I need nut) so I need to sort this out. Luckily, I have to space and hopper to do this so not a big problem. We will see. Should have taken a photo of the coal bridging in the hopper. I will do that soon.

I phoned Lehigh and they arranged trucking (Dohy or some name like that). The buck looks good enough to eat.... I think I will have some with a little ketchup. Photos under coal bins.

sounds like it came from the stock pile. is that your standard practice unless otherwise requested?
