I voted for buck. The Keystoker can use either buck or rice but since I have been on a buckkick the last few years , I will continue on with it this year. All bins are empty and I can't do a thing about that until Lehigh opens the gate for small user sales sometime in September if I recall correctly. I like Lehigh. Mike

I voted rice that is typically used in alaska stoves although some have mixed buck with rice in these stoves with success, interestingly I bought a used alaska last year and the fellow through in 10 bags of what he thought was rice, it was barley. No wonder there were so many fines under the grate and he could not get the stove to throw heat, oh well works great now and I used the barley mixed with rice just to get rid of it

Buck and Barley should be very easy to obtain since they are not in demand, especially the barley. If your dealer is not stocking it they probably just don't want to deal with it. The buck can be crushed for rice but they don't want to do that because they end up with a lot waste with barley and smaller.... The barley is usually cheaper

That boiler you have is similar to Losch? That is really the only one I'm aware of that worked well with barley. I did have a few customers that had efm's using it.
Your right one the money there Richard. The Yellow Flame works GREAT with barley, the Losch does to. My coal supplier has no demand for barley or buck. He burns barley in HIS Losch though!!! They don't want to deal with dlivering barley, it gets quite messy.

I can get buck or barley from another supplier, they are 30 miles further away though. That makes it cost a good bit more than the local rice so, no deal there.

My coal sort of comes that way from my present supplier. About every 10th or so piece is noticeably larger than nut, it works fine in my hand fed stoves. In fact the Hitzer 50-93 seems exceptionally controllable on this particular diet.

With the Hitzer I used nut only now with the Glenwood I use stove with some nut mixed in, I am going to try only nut soon and will probably use nut only next year( just because my local dealer doesn't carry stove and he the only one that has a high lift) but I would guess that a hand job would be nut and a stoker would be rice!

I voted for rice but I also use nut. I will probably use 6 or 7 ton of rice and 3 ton of nut.
