The 116 is a good Oak stove. It's the most common size of the Glenwood modern oaks. And the three digit model number means it has the better preforming triangular grates.

It'll burn wood, or coal very well. And if there's ever a problem with the grates, which is rare because the triangular type are more robust, new grate bars are available from several sources.

I'm going to take it. Even if it needs work we have evil winters here. I love this forum. Full of helpful info. I want to get to the point where I can throw coal in.wearing white shirt sleeves and not get dirty. Like that guy in the video. Thanks again for your input!

That guy is special. Others (like me) look like 'Pigpen' from Charlie Brown, just thinking about putting coal in a stove. :eek2: toothy

Your welcome. Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions. We have a bunch of modern oak owners on here.

By The way, there's a common saying here that without pictures, it didn't happen ! We love pictures of stoves. :D

Good luck with the sale. Hope it's a real good one. ;)

He says it comes apart easily for transport. A post somewhere says it's easy to pinch the fingers. I'm pretty excited, partly because starting a hardwood fire in a four inch grate is frustrating and it should be easier to get coal going in a bigger space. I hope it is close to uesable. I do alot of cleaning up but must find some methods that avoid the mess I think!

Oh no. Now that the pictures are accepted here I can see lines...on the front of the fire pot? I don't know. I guess I'll see when I get there. On tenterhooks for the week.
