With that being said I'm burning Reading In the 30-95 if that helps.

The Reading pea that I am burning is privately bagged and is bone dry with no dust or fines. It feeds from the hopper of the Franco Belge very well by itself between tendings. Red ash.

I recently burned some stove size that was free from a basement mine in the Vigilant. Fist size pieces easily turned to dust but high ash. Bed went down a lot between tendings.

Tractor Supply nut somewhere in the middle. Bed mostly drops when shaken.

I'm wondering if it isn't the ash my coal produces and the sizing of the coal. The coal does not burn into powdery. Fired high or low. Also, my coal has several pieces of what I would say is close to stove size coal. When I shake the coal comes down, but it never really falls on its own. Oh Well. ;) hopper is as square as day one. Might buy a few bags of jeddo and santa to see if that makes a difference

But yeah wow, those fire views are just beautiful on those stoves!
