A good draft setting is anywhere between -.03 and -.05. I used to have one of those paddle wheel draft inducers. Which model are you using? The AD-1?

You should only need to use it while lighting new fires in a cold chimney OR to maintain draft on warm days. The motor seems to get really hot when running for long periods.
