Hey guys here's a couple of pictures showing detailed casting of the Acorn. Tried to get pictures of grates and inner workings. Have not had time to begin tear down yet. I'll keep posting pictures as time allows.

Been doin some polish work so I figured I'd see how the Acorn will polish out. Here are some pics of before and after, then with black background. Original nickel polished up nice. Not perfect but I'm happy, only original once.

Since my shop is a mess I figured I'd continue with the polish project. Here is base before and after with black accents. Have one leg and cross members left to do.

Nice job. It looks fantastic, P. Can't wait to see it back together, as I'm sure you are, too.

Paned,
am I correct in thinking this is not rebuffed original nickel but rather polished iron with accents ?
are you also spraying a clear seal coat ?
thanks,
steve

Steve, nope that's the original nickel plating after buffing off the corrosion. Not using any type of clear on it. The before pictures make it look like rusted metal but that just the years of corrosion. With a bit of work it came of rather nicely. Some turned out better than others.

Here's some pics of the tear down today. Went fairly well no major surprises. Pic with parts against wall is only about 1/2 of the cast pieces. Very complicated stove. Enjoy.

Beautiful work, Paned.
That black background not only highlights the decorations, it gives the stove parts a more delicate look.

Here is progress on the Acorn. Been sandblasting and painting parts. Thankful the pile to be blasted is getting smaller by the day. Everything's going pretty well, plan is to dry fit right now until I get a chance to weld and repair parts. Only bit issue was top base chamber plate was warped approx 3/16" on high exhaust intake side. Would go back together ok but not happy with fit. Going to re fabricated then seal up bottom base chamber. Besides that only some small internal cracks to weld. Here's the progress pics.

My sincere respects for your talent. I know what it takes to do what you are doing. You will be proud of that stove.
