Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Leisure Line Hyfire

Post by brandonh98 » Tue. Apr. 04, 2017 3:16 pm

I did a quick search and can't seem to find a good answer. I purchased the stove on craigslist a few weeks ago and the guy that sold it to me was running a mixture of rice and buck. Does anyone else do this with their Hyfire? What does Leisure line recommend using?

Thanks in Advance.

Brandon

You can use rice or buck or a mix in all LL stoves and boilers. Dave may be along to confirm. :D

Thank you for your reply. Do you see any advantage to using one over the other?

The larger the coal is the faster you can burn it because of the amount of air you can pass through it is greater because the space between the pieces is larger.

Rice is recommended. Buck can be used as well but the draft needs to be more closely monitored. I really never noticed any huge difference. A pound of coal gives a certain amount of BTUs.
