Dave, I believe it was '82 - '83 or '84. I saw -16F in High Bridge, and all my drain lines under the house froze solid. Also froze one copper pipe feeding the kitchen sink, and that pipe was INSIDE living space.

Wood'nCoal wrote:It was in 1996, I don't remember the exact date and I can't find it online, but I remember the temperature here and the report in the NJ Herald about the temperature in Hainesville. I also remember I was able to stay home because the work van I had at the time wouldn't start :D and my neighbor ran out of oil.

EDIT: Found the info in my appointment book archive, I was wrong. It was Friday, January 21, 1994, and the van did start around noon. Too bad I don't keep such records anymore.

1996 was the year we got 36" of snow. We were riding the roads of hunterdon county with our snowmobiles(all legally registered, of course). That was a fun couploe days.

You're right, this is the winter I was thinking about - now I remember. The wife had just trashed the '68 Galaxy 500. We bought an '81 Escort that was a year old. I don't think it got as cold as what John is talking about but I think I recall -27* in Hope. Hey, what's another -10* among friends :)

I remember a Christmas morning that was -25 below and I think it was 1979 or 1980, I moved in 1981, My buddie was renting a house from Willard Klemm on the Fredon Marksboro rd and it was about 40 in the house and we were outside trying to wrap his house with a roll of plastic and it was so cold that the wind would shatter the plastic at -25, funny how you remember times like that as the Good Ole Days :)

I've only been in PA since July 1994. So I don't remember how cold and snowy it was spring. I do know it was cold and snowy in Georgia that year.
I think the coldest I've seen here was last January -23. People at work make fun of me because I tell them how much colder it is here. It's 10 degree's colder usually. My buddy lives in Forest City and says there is no way its colder in Friendsville than Forest City. I live two miles south of Friendsville and 1.5 miles north of Birchardville. I almost crapped when this was on the news last year. I had to rewind it and take a picture.

We have the temp gauge in the car and when I drive up to my friends house 200' higher, one mile away,it has been 11* different, sometimes he's warmer, other times I'm the warm one.

This is wimpy:
Overnight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10. Wind chill values as low as zero. North wind between 7 and 9 mph.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 23. North wind around 7 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11. North wind around 6 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 29. West wind between 3 and 8 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 13. West wind between 5 and 7 mph.

When is it going to get cold? Like below zero cold--you know--freeze your t#ts off cold?

Where's all the snow??

Disappointed!!!

But it was nasty today with the wind chill and all.

Now that is cold weather! 12 here now, sunny, going up to 25. This morning I'm bringing down the last of the buck and chuting it in, the bin is empty. I sure hope "Big Blue" will start.
