Price check...What's the going price in your area? 2006-07

Now thats it's the off peak season for coal, I was just wondering what prices you all are paying for a ton of coal. Deliverd and or picked up.

Called my guy and got a phone message stating that they are closed for 2 weeks for vacation. So I am not sure what the going price is in my area??

I hope it is at least alittle cheaper so I can order a few tons.

I called my local dealer. current price is $165. ton delivered for nut.

A month ago I paid $175 a ton for rice delivered from PA to NJ, about an hours drive for the coal company. Last year I paid $150 a ton, the local supplier wanted $212.

If I was sure that I would still be living here the following winter, I would've doubled up on my delivery and saved some money, cause you know it will be going up each year...

I just bought my coal today for the 06/07 heating season. Price per ton went up $33.00 from last year to $177.00 per ton picked. I bought 8,530 lbs of rice coal. That's two trips in my pickup truck. This is in Maryland which is far away from the coal man's territory.

It looks like I'll be paying the same as last year: $275/ton. I guess it's more expensive up here in Massachusetts

That is quite expensive, I'll assume that is bagged coal? Generally the bag coal is quite a bit more than bulk delivery. Others have mentioned prices in the $225 range.

Guess I know why your the "angry" gardner. Spare the tomatoes please they have done nothing to you. :lol:

Yes sir, that price is for bagged coal. I didn't even think about the loose coal. I should look into that although the bags are convenient.

If I had tomatoes to throw I would but they won't even ripen! I guess that's why I'm angry...I'll save that for another forum. :evil:

I talked with my coal dealer yesterday and they quoted me $263 per ton for nut coal (bulk not bagged) and that does not include the delivery charge. They usually hit me an addition $20 for delivery and because my bin is located in the back of my garage they have to use a trimmer (gasoline powered conveyor) and charge me another $25. I get 5300 lbs so the total comes out to $280 per ton.

I live in southwestern New Hampshire(Keene) area and called the next nearest dealer that happens to be just over the state line in Vermont, 25 miles away. They get $240 per ton plus delivery and when I asked about the delivery charges they asked where I live and they told me they do not deliver to that area and I should call the people that are getting $263 per ton.

I see from the posts on this forum that there are people taking deliveries from coal country in PA to NJ and MD, does anyone have a contact that I could talk to about delivering to southwestern NH? You can answer me by private message.

I have a form here you can fill out,

I know I could deliver it for less than that but it's a matter of having enough cutomers in the same areas to make it worth the effort.

$268 a ton for rice here on the Island of Long. Up from last year. Still alot cheaper than oil, and the bride will be warmer.

Same price as last year (all summer long). Was hoping to see the price drop in the summer......wishful thinking.

$267.60/ton bagged, 50# bags. I'm buying 4 tons today to avoid the impending price increase. I got screwed last year by waiting -- not this year!! Hope I don't break a leaf-spring!! (8K #'s in a 1/2 ton pickup!!)

Ever wonder why states with a majority of Democrats in the House/Senate are the most expensive places to live on the planet??? :evil:

They raise our property taxes, then our towns try to override Prop. 2 - 1/2 to replace funds that lined ted kennedy's pockets.......

I could go on for hours, but this is a COAL forum!! :wink:

Good luck smitty :shocked!: I can only hold 2 tons of loose rice coal in my 3/4 ton pickup. I would make at least two trips or rent a trailer if I were you.

$194 a ton delivered for nut. Should've bought in June--would've saved $20 per ton. I live in NE Ohio
